FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: VAUGHAN, ON (September 30, 2014)  --  The Ontario Soccer Association and Gatorade are joining forces around the Ontario Player Development League (OPDL), the province’s first standards-based high performance program. Gatorade will sponsor the OPDL through the 2016 season as the exclusive sport beverage partner.

In 2014, 34 teams from 18 clubs took the pitch in April in the U-13 age group. The OPDL will add the U-14 age group in 2015, and will continue to add an age group in each successive year.

“The OSA is excited to partner with Gatorade, a global leader in high performance sport, on the OPDL,” league Technical Director Mirco Schroff said. “The OPDL takes a holistic approach to elite athlete development, and sport nutrition is certainly part of that. It is a tremendous opportunity to educate our coaches to have Gatorade as our official sponsor.”

Gatorade provides hydration stations at each OPDL centralized venue on game days for the duration of the season, which runs through November. It is also providing OPDL License Holders with product for training, and coach education across the league
